Andrey Arshavin was the name on everyone’s lips after Euro 2008, and after a string of impressive performances, Arsene Wenger delved into Arsenal’s transfer funds and signed the Russian from Zenit St Petersburg. Arshavin started life well in London, ensuring Arsenal qualified for the Champions League again that year with 6 goals and 7 assists in just 12 games but his most memorable performance in an Arsenal shirt was at Anfield in 2009, when he scored all four of Arsenal’s four goals in a 4-4 Draw with Liverpool. Although the supremely talented Russian could not replicate his form through the rest of his Arsenal career, he made a significant impact and left Arsenal fans with many great memories.
